Richard B. Cheney a prominent politician and businessman, is the vice president of the United States. Cheney, a well-known face in Washington politics, has served under four presidents in the United States. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush picked Cheney to be his running mate for vice president in July of 2000 due to his experience and insight. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff for the president, was a representative in Congress, and was secretary of defense. Both Republicans and Democrats admire him for his sincerity. Cheney stated that the role he plays as an adviser to Bush's administration is to serve as a discreet but honest adviser. Cheney stated that, upon accepting the Republican nomination as vice president Cheney was looking forward to working alongside President Bush who worked across party lines and with political rivals to achieve common visions. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on January 30, 1941 at Lincoln Nebraska. Cheney moved to Casper, Wyoming with his family at the age of 13. His father, who was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture was the director of the conservation district in Casper.
