Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941. He was the child of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. The family was moved to Casper, Wyoming with his family in the year 13 when he turned thirteen. He was raised by his father who was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, directed the soil conservation district in Casper.
