April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 The seventh grade was when she began playing guitar, and also taking piano lessons which ignited her love for songwriting. April Lockhart wrote her first song, Different, at age 12 years old. At the age of 14, April spent a lot of time in writing music ideas and practicing musical skills. The songwriting began with her father and her dad in NY and LA within a short time. The month also saw her include various other topics of concern for some of her peers who are dealing with things like bullying by peers and teenage suicide as depicted in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart is a fashion and lifestyle blogger with a growing following. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia through a collaboration, and is also a lifestyle expert. Yes, she was born without a left hand, and it creates her unique. However, that's not the only aspect that makes her unique. In the end, Lockhart's profile doesn't hide her handicap, however it doesn't center around the issue either. What message is it trying to convey? The message? That we can all be multifaceted and our bodies and identities do not reflect all appear. Lockhart said via video that she does not want to be defined by her physical disability. She does not want to work as a disability advocate who only speaks about it. There are many aspects of Lockhart. My day-today life is not dependent on it. I go about my regular, everyday life and find my own solutions to problems. But it's also a part of me and I feel it's important that we talk about. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime however Lockhart is a true inspiration in this regard. Still she admits she's gone through phases of her body at times being unsure about wearing specific types of clothes which showed off the arms of her. Today, she wears anything she likes. She also posts her pictures to social media. Self-love, she explains, is a process. "I believe that you will ever be in that place," she said. This applies to everyone regardless of levels of anxiety. It's important to have people that know and can relate to you. They will help you remind yourself about the issues you're concerned about.
