Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American performer, actor and dancer. She started her Broadway career performing in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. The play You Can't Take It With You in which she was awarded the Tony Award as Best Featured actor in an Play. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning director, actors and producers throughout the course of her professional career. Ashford will be next starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to stream on Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. The film will premiere in March 2023. Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This show will be produced by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who produced Hamilton. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin as well as Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. She has also appeared on Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original character of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for the Tony Award. Ashford, who was born in Denver and now lives in Los Angeles and New York.
